The park was once a quarry, then an estate, then an amusement park, and is on Virginia's Historic Register; the Stone House can be rented for small events. The South of the James farmers market runs here Saturdays 8am to 1pm, typically May through November. It's a known sledding spot when it snows, and Sunday concerts run in summer.
